PSVCOA's: Volvo Variety Fun Run II- June 11-13
24 Volvos, 44 participants, both American & Canadian; 444/544s, 122S/123Ss, 140s, 1800s (S & ES), 240/740/960s, & 2 Rs (S&V) participated.
(webmasters note: There was also a C70-T5 Coupe, but it was probably mistaken for one of the 544's since they both have 2 doors).

An informal group dinner Friday evening prefaced our Saturday tour of a part of the Olympic National Forest, featuring breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains from Hurricane Ridge along with some local deer who turned out at the lookout to admire our panoply of Volvos. We enjoyed a picnic lunch at Lake Crescent, and had a chance to visit with our old and new friends; it was quite idyllic. The afternoon's drive over a variety of paved and unpaved but good roads gave us views of stately conifers and twisty roads, just perfect for our Volvos. Our tour ended at Ediz Hook where we watched ocean-going freighters and took a few pictures to capture the moment. Along the way, the PSVCOA had raffles of a variety of fun items including some exquisite candy and wines, along with a number of Volvo items.
During the drive a few cars got lost--famous Canadian racer Gil Stuart made a wrong turn and ended up in a garbage dump, but was rescued by the Kendalls in a golden 544.
Saturday evening our group dined at a very nice restaurant next door to our lodging; we had a room together and thoroughly enjoyed each other's company so much that we agreed to exchange contact information so we can stay in touch.
Sunday morning, we were treated to a special breakfast at Ben Huntley's shop, and viewed his car and boat collection.
Numerous Volvo Club of B.C. members joined the cruise, which took the place of their Spring Drive. Raffle prizes were awarded periodically. Ryan/Walt Tartar mysteriously seemed to win many of the prizes. Gregg Morris won champagne for owning more than 8 Volvos.
Our thanks to Ben Huntley and Reenie Harrison for their masterful job planning and leading this event. Great scenery, cuisine, cordial friendship, and everyone had a wonderful time too!!.
